The Snakeskin Oath

vintage black leather fringe vest - Miracle Eye // crop top - mom made it for me // boots - vintage // sunglasses - Miracle Eye // shorts - AA // gold belt - vintage // hat (flowers added by me) - eBay

I read this post by Taylor from Restless Youth, where she talks about slut-shaming and people judging others because they're dressed in what their opinion isn't 'conservative'. I totally suggest you read it because it's well-written in my opinion and gets to the point without blaaabbbbing on like I have a tendency of doing. I ended up writing a really long comment and felt like I should just copy and paste it because I am a lazy butt. Here ya go (true story that happened at my school):

"I completely agree. You know, something happened a few days ago in my English class that I'm going to talk about in my next blog post, but I'll just tell you in this comment because I think this post IS wonderfully written accompanied by a WONDERFUL outfit. Okay, so my teacher assigned us to create our own nine levels of hell, based on what we think is a reason. Some examples: Betrayers, pedophiles, murderers, and so on. One group, made of two girls and one boy, had one powerpoint slide titled 'loose girls'. Immediatley, I became frustrated (to myself of course). As I was waiting for them to justify their title, I read the slide and began to feel my eyes swell up. Their description of the sinner was as follows: Girls who wear short shorts, girls who sleep with boys too soon (what really is 'too' soon?), girls who basically feel SO confident and empowered in themselves and their sexuality basically was what they were describing. My sadness turned into anger. I couldn't believe my eyes, especially since it was TWO girls, and one boy in this group. Obviously, I would still be angry as hell if it was three boys, because I'd obviously come to the conclusion of "oh, it's just stupid misogynist boys who won't learn what the hell equality is until they're 30, if even then, or EVER." Basically, I couldn't believe that teenage girls who had access to the internet, were the definition of anti-feminist and were proud of it. They were proud of waiting a year of dating this boy to have sex because that meant they weren't "sluts" which equals stupid, apparently."

Unbelievable, eh?

ugh I can't believe that happened at your school :/. How many years until women aren't judged based on their own choices and confidence?

Holy shit people are ignorant! Just reading that made me breathless with frustration. A while ago in English, I don't know how, but the teacher brought up feminists and their was a collective "ha!" in the class. I turned around and said something really lame and unconvincing/unclever statement like "Feminists believe in equality" (I made it sound like it's some sort of fictional belief... like people who believe in dragons). They thought I was joking probably. Same response... "ha!" -.-

i think i would have gone mental if that happened in my english class. please don't tell me the teacher just sat back and let that happen, fair enough people can express their opinions (especially in an english class) but there is a difference between being opinionated and chauvinistic (for the boy). Sounds like the girls were trying to say what the boy would want to hear, gah but that is so wrong. They are literally just damning their own gender, whats that about?

Anyway, those boots are freakin perfect. you look awesome as always <3

I like your style! Some people are sooo ignorant and annoying. They think they are the best because they follow those made up rules of what is right and wrong.Don't worry cause in most cases they end up growing up and realising they have wasted their life doing what is "right" and not what they really want. It's okay to do what you want, wear whatever expresses you and have sex if it's what feels right. The most important thing is to respect yourself and respect the others right for being different even though you can't fully understand them.

well you are awesome and perfect. like what are those boots? they are so damn good. lurrrrvvvee em.

as for your classmates. . . what the fuck? now i remember why i hated high school (and actually most people outside of high school/majority of society/everyone.) i can't believe that these girls actually SAT DOWN AND THOUGHT "HMM, WHY DO WE HATE "SLUTS"/WHY ARE WE BETTER THAN OTHER GIRLS" it's crazy that they think like that and don't even realize how backwards they are. hopefully, they will grow up and maybe one day children will be better educated. bleh.

ps. did i say that you are awesome and perfect?

I like your shorts! And my philosophy is: Do what ever you want, as long as it doesn't hurt me, or other people. The world would be a better place if people stopped meddling in each other's business...

This snakeskin oath is one I obviously need to make too. You're looking fine in that snake.

And secondly. Uh, again I will just say, (and Im shaking my head as I read your post) we might have burned our bras n' all just a short while ago, but obviously society has gone from "hope of evolution" to de-evolution all over again, not sure how that fuckaroo happened, but yeah. Its sad that despite our advancements in society, mankind still remains creepily similar to that of a troglodyte.

I swear, when I read this, it just made me sick. Especially coming from girls. And not only that, but WHO are they to judge someone else's life?! I'm sure they are far from perfect human beings. Not only is it sad how brainwashed they are, but its self-righteous and hypocritical. I hate people.

Also can we discuss how perfect your hat and boots are. ahhhhhhhh. so obsessed.
